The Maples Group AML Compliance Services team specializes in the provision of outsourced AML services, primarily to the Cayman Islands investment funds industry. These services include the provision of highly qualified individuals to act in the roles of Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Officer ("AMLCO"), Money Laundering Reporting Officer (“MLRO”) and Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer ("DMLRO") Officer.

The Opportunity  
We are looking for an accomplished AML professional to join our Anti-Money Laundering Services team in Grand Cayman. The Cayman Islands is home to our global headquarters and where the Maples Group first established operations in the 1960s. Since then we have grown to become one of the largest employers in Cayman, where colleagues from all over the world collaborate to deliver best-in-class solutions to clients worldwide. As part of our Cayman team you will: 
  
  • Appointed as AMLCO, MLRO and DMLRO for various types of clients of the Maples Group; 
  • Provide AML/CFT compliance oversight over the client's activities including its administrator or any delegate performing investor level KYC; 
  • Ensure the implementation of an effective AML/CFT program for clients that complies with the Cayman Islands AML ,and CFT Act s and regulations;. 
  • Conduct regular audits and testing of clients AML/CFT programs 
  • Provide practical advice, guidance and technical assistance on Cayman Islands AML/CFT and related issues; 
  • Investigate reports of suspicious activities and make filings as necessary to the Cayman Islands Financial Reporting Authority; 
  • Act as a point of contact for  the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority("CIMA") inspections; 
  • Perform in-depth money laundering, counter terrorist financing, proliferations financing and targeted financial sanctions risk assessments of client operations; 
  • Provide ongoing detailed reports to the board of Directors (or equivalent) on the status of the Clients AML/CFT program and controls; 
  • Report to and advise client Boards of Directors (or equivalent) on AML/CFT issues relevant to them; 
  
  
What You Bring 
In addition to indisputably high ethical standards and autonomy, the ideal candidate possesses the following: 
  
  • will have a bachelor's Degree in legal ,finance or related field at least 5 years relevant experience, or a minimum of 8-10 years' experience in the compliance field, preferably working in the investment funds industry; 
  • must have acted as an AMLCO and MLRO for more than 2 years, either at a CIMA licensee or investment fund vehicle; 
  • preference will be for candidates with experience in client facing roles who have acted as AMLCO for portfolios of external client entities, as client relationship management is a key skill in this role; 
  • must have presented compliance reports to boards of directors or governing bodies; 
  • will hold a recognised AML related qualification (or equivalent) e.g. ACAMS, ICA; 
  • will have in-depth, practical knowledge of Cayman Islands AML legislation and related industry guidance; 
  • will have a sound, demonstrable knowledge of the Cayman Islands investment fund industry; 
  • will have a sound, demonstrable knowledge on investment activities and operations within an investment fund vehicle; and 
  • will have a working knowledge of fund administration.
